Various stakeholders in the Malabar region of Kerala have teamed up to transform Kozhikode (Calicut) as the next technology innovation hub of the country. The team is organizing a three-day technology expo ‘KTX Global Wave 2024’ at  Calicut Trade Centre from February 29 – March 2, 2024.

According to the organizers, the event will be one of India’s premier technology and innovation conferences and will be hosted by CITI 2.0. The Kerala Startup Mission, Technology Business Incubator of NIT Calicut, Tata Elxsi, Kerala IT, Group of Technology Companies (Gtech), Grant Thorton, Conference Prime, Malabar Angels, and Capio are some of the partners of the event.

“KTX Global Wave 2024 is a platform to connect, learn, grow, and surf the global wave of tech innovation.”

Showcasing Innovations

The expo will provide opportunities for large businesses and startups to connect with peers and decision-makers, discover international business opportunities, and showcase innovations to a global audience. It will also have panel discussions, fire-side chats, Keynote sessions, and expert workshops.

“Kozhikode is taking a leap,  with Kerala Technology Expo KTX 2024. It is the right time to showcase the IT and technology ecosystem of Kozhikode in the global arena,” said M A Mehaboob, President of Malabar Chamber of Commerce, Calicut.

“We are looking forward to hosting the global IT community here.”

The event is likely to witness participation from over 6000 delegates and more than 200 exhibitors from across the world. The major focus verticals of the event would be industry 4.0 & smart manufacturing, healthcare tech, creative tech, food & agro tech, property tech, and retail tech.

Small Towns

The initiative to pitch Kozhikode as an innovation hub comes at a time when the technology landscape in India is undergoing a paradigm shift. According to a report by Deloitte and Nasscom emerging tier-2 hubs in India offer the ideal blend of outcome and efficiency for the tech industry. It also said that as of 2022 around 39 percent of the country’s start-ups are based in emerging cities.

Earlier the Malabar Chamber of Commerce along with eight other stakeholders, including the Calicut Forum for IT (CAFIT), IIM Kozhikode, NIT Calicut, KSITIL, CREDAI, Calicut Management Association (CMA), UL Cyber Park, Kozhikode, and Government Cyberpark have collaboratively established CITI 2.0 to unlock the vast potential of the city.
